UK surgical trainees with OOPEs in low-middle income countries required for research

Dr Sonia Basson, ST8 in Paediatric Surgery and Masters student at Imperial College London is seeking volunteer participants for her Masters dissertation research project.

She is looking to interview UK surgical trainees who have completed an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) in a low-middle income country (LIMC) over the past five years. She is interested in exploring how an OOPE in a LIMC has affected surgical practice on return to the UK.

Participation would involve a 30 to 60 minute one-to-one audio-recorded interview at a time and place convenient for you. Your data will be anonymised and confidentiality maintained.

Dr Basson hopes that findings from this study will allow surgical trainees to make better informed decisions about undertaking OOPEs and perhaps identify any support that may be required on returning to the UK.

Please email if you would like to participate or require any further information.
