The IPPG Rescue Posts in Machermo and Gokyo, Nepal, have closed this week. These facilities, essential for local people in the Khumbu and one of mountain medicine’s great success stories, have been forced to shut by unscrupulous business interests profiting from unnecessary helicopter evacuations. Dr Nick Mason from IPPG has published an open letter, explaining the circumstances of the closure.
