Adventure Medic is proud to announce the launch of our elective essay competition for 2017! Did your elective take you on an adventure? Then we want to hear about it… Enter our competition to be in with a chance of winning an amazing travel bundle worth over £200, arranged by our very own AM student rep Tom Beddis, and courtesy of the lovely kit people at Rab, Lifesystems, Alpkit and Keela.
The Brief
“Adventures great and small.”
If you’re a medical student, or a doctor within two years of qualification, we want to hear from you! We’re looking for an article detailing your elective adventure anywhere in the world. We’d like original articles that are lively to read, tell a story, discuss what you learned from your experience, and that will make other students want to grab their bags and go. Adventure is everywhere, and you don’t have to have travelled somewhere remote; if it was an adventure for you, we look forward to reading about it.
The article should be between 1000 and 3000 words and should ideally include between 4 and 12 good-quality images. Please include a catchy title, a brief bio, details on how you organised your elective, and a ‘top tips’ section for students so others can be inspired to try something similar.
Upload your article directly from this page via the box below – please send it as a Word document, with the images as .jpeg files. For more information on Adventure Medic submissions, and general guidance that all authors should adhere to, visit our Contribute section.
The Prize?
All submitted articles will be eligible for publication on Adventure Medic. The author of the article that we judge is best will receive an Adventure Travel Prize worth more than £200! It’s just what you need to get started on your next adventure, and we are extremely grateful to our sponsors for helping us provide such a great prize. The Travel Prize will include:
- An awesome Alpkit DryDock 50 Duffle Bag
- A lovely Superflux Hoody from Rab
- A great Travel Bundle (First Aid Kit, Water purification system, Insect repellent and a packable backpack) courtesy of Lifesystems
- And a wonderful Buff from Keela
When is the closing date?
***NEW closing date*** The closing date has been extended to allow for festive holidays! So we now close on on Tuesday 16th January 2018 at 10pm UK time. Articles that are received after the closing date will still be eligible for publication, but not to win the prize. Good luck!
